Talking about Data Platform Insider : Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2008 Available Today

Today the SQL Server team have announced availability of SQL 2008 SP1! Now there’s absolutely no reason not to upgrade to 2008 to start taking advantage of all the new cool things available. SP1 is a roll-up of all the current fixes/updates, plus extra functionality around slipstreaming the service pack, and the packaging of Report Builder 2.0 as a Click-Once application. Click-Once means the Report Builder app can be installed simply by visiting a web site, it doesn’t need administrative priviledges and is installed into a user’s isolated storage so it’s very secure. It also simplifys deployment as everytime the application is launched it’ll check if any updates are available from the central point from where it was downloaded.
Great news, and on the anniversary of SQL 2000 going out of support 🙂
